For my reflection post, I would echo other’s posts, and cannot believe this semester is almost over! I have learned a lot this semester, both in terms of course readings and about myself. I am a planner and like to take things at my own pace. Often I will devote a solid few hours a night to readings and assignments so that I don’t get overwhelmed at any one point, and that definitely helps. I know it’s not for everyone, but I’ve never done well with procrastinating and leaving things to the last minute. Like Lauren C mentioned, it’s often better to take one assignment at a time. I’ll often work on one assignment for a while, and if I need a break or get stuck somewhere, I’ll either go back to it later or work on another assignment. That way I never feel overwhelmed. I’m not very good with multitasking, but breaking up larger assignments into smaller more manageable pieces. Keep your heads up, everyone! We’re almost there!

Twitter Word Cloud Challenge
For the Twitter challenge, I started with baby steps and I used the template found on socialwordcloud.com and created a twitter cloud using all the tweets from someone I greatly admire, Dr. Jill Biden. Regardless of your political views, I find her acts and actions very inspiring, while she is attending to her First Lady duties, she still finds time in her busy schedule to teach at least at the Community College level. I liked how the twitter cloud turned out (attached below), it’s colorful and shows a variety of the messages that she has posted to the world. I think these word clouds have near limitless potential based on what or who’s social media you link to the cloud. I think an interesting experiment you could undertake is do a cloud at the beginning of a semester with students of a specific field or area, and throughout the semester perhaps have the students track the social media accounts and near the end of the semester do an updated cloud specifically with updates throughout the semester to see what has changed throughout the course. I cannot seem to get the image to attach here, but it's included on the #eme6414 twitter page, under my twitter account lehorne8 if anyone's curious!
Challenge’s participation – better late than never!
This week, I challenged myself to participate more actively through this weeks challenges. I enjoyed the Google maps challenge. For the 1st layer, the international social media tidbits, I found some fascinating stats about Germany’s social media habits over the past year, and the site can be used to designate between entire regions and continents, to more fine-tuned search results of an individual country. I was having technical issues posting the 2nd pin on the map for the happy place layer, but then I realized I was too far zoomed in on the map, and when I zoomed out more generalized, it worked! For the happy place, I had a lot of good memories from a European tour my grandmother and I took back in summer 2019, and Switzerland was the highlight of the trip for me, with the natural wonders of the Alps, and the various aspects of the country’s history still hold a lot of good memories for me.

Review of Week 9
Like a several other classmates, I was very thankful to have a little bit of a break this week while working on planning the remaining Produsage and PLN assignments for the semster. I have learned a lot this semester about web 2.0 tools, and I’m excited to put more of what I learned more into practice through the last two assignments. As many of you probably know by now, based on the contents of my EME 6414 blog, I am a major bookworm, and I wanted to try and attempt to mesh my desire of reading together with academic learning, to help instill in future students a sense of the love of reading and learning that I share. I am looking more into the assignment requirements of both assignments, and hope to be able to put together an end product that I can look back on and be proud of. Looking forward to seeing what else everyone is planning for their assignments!
Additional Produsage Ideas
For the Produsage assignment, I have looked more into the tools that worked to best support my ideas for the assignment. The tools that I was planning on using were Goodreads and Reddit, for the purposes of supporting collaboration and sharing of documents and associated media. Mainly, my goal for this assignment is create a collaborative space for those interested in research and research administration to be able to connect and collaborate with one another to add to the learning space. I’m intrigued to see how things progress and move forward from here.
Produsage Assignment Brainstorming
I’ve been thinking a lot about the Produsage assignment, and what I want to achieve for the assignment. Looking back at the various readings throughout the semester, Produsage is we consume content, and then create consent based on that. For the Produsage assignment, I would be using the tools of Reddit and Goodreads to develop a space for academic literature discussion of research and research administration. I would want to create some original content and help provide some questions to kickstart the discussions and conversations regarding research or research administration, which could hopefully be more easily applied to numerous different fields of study for academic literature.
